25.05.2018 I TM Real Estate Group
The Chair of TM Real Estate Group, Ángeles Serna, and the General Director of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, Jordi Folgado, today signed a collaboration agreement to build a village of 64 properties in the area of Kalyandurg (Anantapur, India), with the aim of improving the quality of life of over 300 people living in the area and who currently live in huts that fail to meet even the minimum standards of habitability.
TM Real Estate Group will make a contribution of EUR 156,512.50 in order to finance the construction of the village, which will be known as “José Luis Serna Village – Moukthikapuram” in honour of the group’s founder. The expected start date for the works will be June 2018 and they are due to end in August 2019.
Once the project has been completed, after an estimated duration of 14 months, the families will have access to decent housing built using local materials. The properties, of around 45m2 with 2 bedrooms plus a bathroom, toilet and porch, will be registered in the name of the women or people with disabilities, in order to make the role of women in Indian society more visible.
During the ceremony, a video was played which showed images of both the foundation’s work in India and the area where the project will be developed and the current housing conditions of the beneficiary families.
This initiative is part of TM Real Estate Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility and its responsible management model, as a commitment to promoting access to housing for the underprivileged, and it is in addition to another charitable project—already in progress—to build the José Luis Serna Noh Bec Kindergarten in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
