Costa Blanca is one of the most popular beach destinations in Spain. The sun, climate, and leisure activities make it the perfect destination for a few days’ holiday.
Furthermore, if you’re travelling with children, many activities are designed or accessible to them.
Museums are always a good day out, especially when it’s too hot or the weather isn’t great.
At Costa Blanca you’ll find some museums that also offer activities for children:
Archaeological Museum of Alicante, MARQ: Here, you’ll find exhibitions about civilisations that have lived in the area throughout history. In addition, its programme includes workshops and activities designed so that children can discover this journey through history in a more fun and adapted way.
Valencian Toy Museum in Ibi: This is a sure hit dedicated to the history of toys where children can learn about the toys their grandparents played with when they were children.
Palaeontological Museum of Elche (MUPE): This is the only museum dedicated to palaeontology in the whole province of Alicante. Guided tours, routes around the city, children’s workshops, and evenings at the museum for the little ones to enjoy a unique experience.
Miniatures Museum of Guadalest: Guadalest is already a curious and unique place, but if you add its miniatures museum, you have the perfect day out. Velázquez’s Meninas on a piece of sweetcorn, the Statue of Liberty on a needle’s eye, or a greyhound race on a hair will allow the little ones to spend the day discovering the extraordinary.
The natural surroundings are another Costa Blanca highlight. If your children are adventurous, these outdoor activities are sure to be just what you’re looking for.
Torrevieja – La Mata Salt Lakes Natural Reserve: it is famous for its pink lagoon, where the water takes on a pinkish hue due to the micro-organisms that inhabit it. You can also take a guided tour on a tourist train to see how the salt extraction process works.
Sources of the River Algar: This is a natural area in Callosa d’en Sarrià where you can wander around pools and waterfalls and enjoy a refreshing swim in the warmer months.
Clot de Galvany: It is a protected natural area where bird watching, and the observation of native species are its main attraction. Didactic material and guided tours will help the little ones to learn about the nature that surrounds them.
Do your kids love the medieval era, its castles, and soldiers? Visiting castles is always a good idea, and there are plenty of them in the Costa Blanca:
Santa Bárbara Castle in Alicante, Altamira Palace in Elche, Villena castle, Sax castle… these are just some of the monuments you can visit if this is your chosen plan.
Let’s finish this list of ideas with a bit of adrenaline, and if you and your family like thrills, you can also find theme parks and amusement parks at Costa Blanca.
Terra Mítica, in Benidorm, is probably the biggest and most famous, but there are also others like PolaPark in Santa Pola or Dinopark in Callosa d’en Sarrià.
As you can see, there are lots of different exciting things to do at Costa Blanca. So, all that’s left for you to do is choose the one that best suits your tastes and enjoy the experience.
